It is easy for life to move by quickly, and for our awareness to aspects of our being to become compensated and unbalanced.
The way we hold tension in our bodies can be caused by more than physical occurrences. If we have a traumatic emotional experience, the cells in our body retain that experience which can, in time, present itself in our physical form.
My goal as a bodyworker is to continue to assist you in accessing the roots of your physical discomfort and lead you to overall wellness. I wish to encourage you to question more than what’s happening physically, but also the emotional and mental states you may be putting yourself in. Your internal state of being reflects into your reality. Your environment, daily practices, and nutrition all play a roll in your overall wellness.
I believe that bodywork unfolds the many pathways we can take to achieving our overall health. The way we bring movement into our body allows us to feel capable of achieving our personal goals and igniting our motivation. If we are intuitive of our body’s natural healthy state, as well as when we are feeling any stagnation or illness, we can consciously take action to better the way we move through our lives in a powerful way. Through learning more about our body we can communicate clearly how to meet our needs, and know the path to take to feel results.
Having received bodywork from a young age, I developed a deep appreciation for the intuitive connection it cultivates and became passionate about learning this healing art as something that can truly make a difference in the health of our communities. I am passionate about traveling to connect with different cultures and their traditional healing practices, and I strive to collaborate with others who share a similar passion.
I began my holistic healing practice in 2012 at the California College of Ayurveda. After CCA, I began learning more alternative healing practices and found myself drawn to bodywork and energy work. I completed Cypress Health Institute’s 520-hour Massage Therapy Certification course in Santa Cruz, CA as well as the Burke Williams Massage Academy in San Jose, CA, including completing their 550-hour training course as well. I have also had the opportunity to learn Traditional Hawaiian Lomi Massage from Ho’omana Spa on Maui, HI. I am now a Certified Massage Therapist of California and offer Hawaiian Lomi massage, traditional Swedish, and deep tissue massage.
I look forward to working with you!
Photo and Bio coming soon.
We are excited to welcome Kia to the Yoso Family. She is passionate about wellness from head to toe and we are sure you will enjoy her gentle spirit and soothing energy as much as we do.
I am a licensed massage therapist and health educator in Santa Cruz. Growing up here, I have been surrounded by people of positivity and of a healing nature. After I received my first massage, all of my stress and negative energy melted away and I felt like an entirely new person. I immediately knew that was what I wanted to do for others. The most rewarding feeling for me is seeing the difference in my client from when they walk in, to when they walk out. My goal is to make a difference in every client that I see using methods of Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point Therapy. I’d love to work with you towards having a healthier mind and a happier body.
After working in the food industry for over a decade I was compelled to begin a new career path that inspired me and that was in line with one of my passions; health and wellness. I have been drawn to the field of beauty since I was very young. As an esthetician I strive to help you bring out your inner beauty and enhance it with a little exfoliation and a great skincare routine. I love learning and educating people about new products and techniques.
As a single mom I know how hard it is to take time for yourself, and that is one of the things I love most about my job; creating a place that recharges us and makes us feel divine and taken care of.
I look forward to meeting you and working with your skin,
Photo & Bio coming soon. We are so thrilled to have Erika as part of the hub of Yoso. She will greet you with a beaming smile and gentle spirit to welcome you in to the Spa.
Ann is the super woman behind the scenes helping assist Jennalee as her right hand woman with all the things to keep things awesome, smooth and growing at Yoso.
While attending the University of San Diego I studied education and found a love for teaching. When I discovered the skincare profession and decided to make my career focus skin I realized that the two really go hand in hand. I enjoy educating my clients about the importance of good skin care and healthy habits! After some years as an esthetician I decided to add healthy nail care services.
When I began raising my family I started taking steps to live a healthier lifestyle. I slowly changed the way we ate to the products we used in our daily lives. I am still learning and tweaking things the same way I am always learning new information about Esthetics and nail care. Continually furthering my education is a priority and gives me the confidence I need to provide the best services to you, the client. It is exciting to be at Yōso Wellness Spa where I can offer healthy, non-toxic services and products.
I feel so lucky to have found and love this career path and that it allows me to live here in Santa Cruz with my family. My three young kids and husband get to have me around more often thanks to an amazing career!
I look forward to meeting you very soon.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina, with a degree in International Studies. During this time, I became interested in the healing practices of different cultures and explored the Egyptian’s use of natural oils and dead sea salts, the Ayurvedic use of herbs and spices, and the Roman baths. The extensive beauty rituals of the Egyptians, Indians, Romans and beyond fascinated me. This cultural curiosity along with the experience I gained in my travels inspired me to learn more about how ancient traditions cared for their skin. What I have grown to love about all of it, is that I can assist others to feel and look their best! I took my first yoga teacher training in 2006, attended the Cypress Health Institute in 2008 for massage therapy and continued my education at Shoreline school of Cosmotology to become an Esthetician.
One of my biggest joys about the esthetics field is the opportunity to know and work with natural and active ingredients from nature and pass that knowledge on to you and inspire you to reach your skins optimal health.
I enjoy taking advanced education courses to stay current with ingredients, trends and the latest techniques to help you take care of your skin. Most of all I look forward to helping you look and feel beautiful both inside and out.

For many years I have had a deep passion for community and especially skincare and the incredible physical, mental and emotional benefits it can create for an individual when it is taken care of. I could not be more thrilled to share that enjoyment and knowledge with all the wonderful men and women that experience a treatment with me. If it is possible to find a soul mate in a career, I have found mine! Which is how Yōso was formed, with passion and a vision.
With a degree from San Jose State University in Advertising and Business Marketing followed by working as a buyer for a Green Business, Sports Basement, I decided to make a shift to follow my skincare passion. From here my education in Esthetics began at a school in Santa Clara with the highest standards and enthusiasm for success. Additionally. I have received extensive training from the International Dermal Institute, Concepts Institute, Eminence Organics, Osmosis Skincare and more. I continue to take advanced education classes in subjects such as skin conditions, Manual Lymphatic Drainage for the face, massage techniques, REIKI and product ingredients and essential oils. A large accomplishment and stepping stone in my career was becoming a certified as an ONCOLOGY Esthetician! In my opinion education is one of the most important things I can do for my role in working with each of you, because as they say, “knowledge is power.” The more informed I am, the better I can inform you!
I am the type of person that jumps for joy from even the smallest things. My life could not be more fulfilled thanks to what we call the Dahlen Tornado, also known as my three little girls Iylee, Marley and Braysen. I am equally greatful for Adam, my wonderful husband, who has supported my vision and passion for wellness from day one. You will likely meet my kids at some point as little spa nomads drifting around as they LOVE to be at Yōso helping out with little projects and getting treatments themselves!
I can’t wait to meet you!
Chief Visionary and Integrative Officer with a Splash of Happiness
I have always been destined to be a healthcare practitioner. Born in rural Northern California to a family that believed that nutrition was the foundation of health, I was raised eating brown rice and organic vegetables. Because my father was passionate about herbal medicine, from a young age I was often found making herbal concoctions.
In my twenties I dedicated myself to several professional herbal medicine programs, eventually leading me to receive a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University. While doing an externship with the renowned Dr. Holly Guzman, I fell in love with Japanese Acupuncture as taught by Kiiko Matsumoto. This effective style of acupuncture is palpation based; the practitioner looks for tender points, often found on the abdomen, then needles corresponding acupuncture points to relieve the tension. Japanese acupuncture needles are smaller than Chinese needles are are not placed as deep.
Cosmetic acupuncture became a passion while attending a workshop with Dr. Martha Lucas, founder of Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture. I am thrilled to offer a unique, effective anti-aging treatment that promotes beauty and vitality from the inside out.
In my free time, I can be found hiking, practicing yoga or playing on the beach with daughter Scarlett Grace, husband Daniel Sebastian and puppy Stella May.
I look forward to supporting your wellbeing soon!
