When there is a natural disaster, especially so close to home, our immediate emotional response is “what can I do? I want to help!” You are right, our neighboring community, Sonoma, needs us now more then ever!
Yōso Wellness Spa is teaming up with Discover. Her (formerly Santa Cruz Socialites) and Event Santa Cruz at the Bazaar at Casablanca Inn, Block Party for not only an incredible evening with friends and family, but an evening to “Gather for Sonoma“ and would love for you to join us through the evening and bring with you donated items and/or a monetary donation. 100% off items and money will go to the victims, evacuees and first responders effected by the Sonoma Fires. Watch the video here to see what is needed and how you can help.

With your donations we hope to support hundreds of people affected by the fires.
The fires in Sonoma and Napa hit especially close to home for Jennalee, 5th generation Sonoma (owner of Yōso) and Dėva (acupunctirist at Yōso) with both our family and friends living there through this alarming devastation.
We are seeking donations for the victims, evacuees and first responders who have been effected and/or lost everything in the fires and will need to start over.
What is needed, but not limited to:
- Face Masks
- Non-Perishible Food
- Personal Hygene (toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, shampoo, soap, tampons, pads.)
- Diapers, Baby food, formula and baby supplies
- Pet Food, Bowls
- First Aid Kits
- New Socks and Underwear
- Clothing (new or lightly used for adults, children and babies)
- Basic living necessities…
- Gift Cards to Safeway, Costco, Target
- Monetary Donations
This is a fluid situation. The needs may change again and we will keep you updated on how your support can be most impactful.

The smoke in the air has had an increase in pollution due to the nature of the fires and is effecting so many. Here are some great tips from my friend in Wellness, Nihal to help protect your lungs and immune system:
1) Make a protective tea:
(Buy some licorice (“gan cao” or radix glycyrrhizae) root, and tulsi leaves… you can add peppermint leaves if you like)
Boil the licorice for 15 minutes in several cups of water. Then turn off the heat, add the tulsi and mint and cover the pot for 5 minutes.
Share with your loved ones – drink a few cups per day each.
***I also sourced tea bags with these ingredients, called “Respiratory Balance” by Lifestyle Awareness Teas – if you want to order it, you can use this code 70456 to get a 10% discount at this site: https://www.npscript.com/
2) Supplement with 1,000-2,000 mg of high quality vitamin C and an activated B-Complex
These vitamins were found lacking in studies of people who were most adversely affected by smoke and pollutant inhalation in multiple studies.
“Daily Stress Formula” by Pure Encapsulations has a good activated B Complex as well as adaptogenic herbs to protect you from stress
(Again, you can find it with a discount on the site above)
3) Avoid the pollutants as much as possible, stay inside and use a HEPA filter if you can.
Feel free to pass on this information if you find it useful.
